As previous The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a discretionary grants fund scheme to be administered by local authorities on 4 May.
The scheme guidance is now been reviewed by the Council and work is underway to put in place an appropriate scheme for each local authority, which is both within the criteria set by Government and which best supports local businesses.
This additional fund is aimed at small businesses who were not eligible for the Small Business Grant Fund or the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Fund.
These grant are predominantly and primarily aimed at:
– Small businesses in shared offices or other flexible work spaces like industrial parks
– Science parks and incubators which do not have their own business rates assessment
– Regular market traders who do not have their own business rates assessment
– B&Bs which pay Council Tax instead of business rates
– Charity properties in receipt of charitable business rates relief which would otherwise have been eligible for Small Business Rates Relief or Rural Rate Relief
– Nurseries (childcare) which have not qualified for other government grants
– This is not an exhaustive list.
Councils arw working to define a scheme and application process to enable businesses to apply for this grant, which we are expecting to open on 26 May.
The scheme will not provide support to those businesses which have received grant through the Small Business Grant Fund, the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Grant Fund.
